O is for Oyster Cookies~

In this months Disney Family Fun Magazine they had this
'Treat of the Month' recipe
for Oyster Cookies called~ 'Pearly Bites'!
I thought this would be a perfect treat to incorporate with learning
about the letter O this week!
The recipe was SUPER easy and I bought all the stuff at the store-
NO BAKING REQUIRED!!!

You simply take Keebler Shortbread Cookies, spread some strawberry flavored icing on one side of a shortbread cookie, top icing off with yogurt covered raisin & then top another shortbread cookie off for the top of the oyster shell.

Use icing to make eyeballs on the top of the oyster- I used tiny tubes of decorating icing in white and purple to make the eyeballs.

They kids loved their 'O' for Oyster Cookies!

We may have to make these cookies again soon, they were eaten up too fast!

(The strawberry flavored icing really complimented the shortbread) MMMMmmmm

If you dont get the Family Fun Magazine here is the recipe:

Pearly Bites Recipe
(Family Fun Mags Treat of the Month)

INGREDIENTS:
Pink frosting
Small, round wafer cookies (I used keebler shortbread)
Yogurt-covered raisins or peanuts
White frosting
Purple or black frosting for pupils

1. To make each oyster, spread a layer of pink frosting on the bottom of a small, round wafer cookie, then gently press a yogurt-covered raisin or peanut on top. Position another cookie as shown, anchoring one edge in the frosting. 2. Dab on white frosting eyes, then use a toothpick dipped in black frosting to add pupils.
